The play's leitmotif is love, as seen, felt and lived by the protagonists to whom the author does not feel the need to give them common names. They live, each separately, love in the perspective of the colors whose indicators have become their own names. The only concrete reference to the title of the play is made when, in a woman's monologue, we learn about the legend of this sand monster. The Arabic metaphor of the sand monster makes you think of the butterfly that is attracted to the light of the lamp and ends up burning its wings in the whirlwind of colors and feelings of love. Love….can hurt, burn, transform you….
