DRAMA CREATION CONTEST Winner | 2018 edition

The jury of the "Dramatic creation competition dedicated to the short play" has chosen the winner of this edition!

As every year, within the Short Theater Festival, the "Dramatic creation competition dedicated to the short play" was organized, which aims to encourage original Romanian dramaturgy, especially short theater.

The organizers do not suggest a specific theme, leaving freedom of choice to the writers, the criterion of appreciation of the pieces being an aesthetic one. The only imposed element is the formal one, required by the rigors of the short theater.

This year, 15 texts were entered in the contest, which were read and analyzed by the jury made up of theater critics Claudiu Groza, Oana Borș and actor Eugen Țugulea. Following the evaluation of the texts, starting from premises related to the dramatic technique and the artistic value, three finalist texts were selected:

  1. "With the drone", by Radu Popescu
  2. "Zloata or the Future President of Romania", by Radu Popescu
  3. "Passing through the walls, rehearsal diary", by Edith Negulici

The piece declared the winner, in full agreement of the jury members, is "Cu drone", written by Mr. Radu Popescu, "a fresh, youthful text, with a funny and unpredictable subject, domestic, extreme, contemporary, with a dose of suspense and a which provides him with a stage potential" (Claudiu Groza).

The text will appear in the next issue of Familia Magazine and will be sent to all the theaters in the country to be read and, hopefully, staged.

Congratulations to the finalists and especially to the winner!

The organizers do not suggest a specific theme, leaving freedom of choice to the creators, the criteria for judging the pieces being aesthetic. This year, 13 texts were entered in the competition, which were read and analyzed by the jury made up of theater critics Elizabeth Pop, Claudio Groza and editor-in-chief of Familia magazine Ioan Moldovan. Following the evaluation of the texts, starting from premises related to the dramatic technique and the artistic value, three of them were nominated, namely:
