The Regina Maria Theater, with the support of the Bihor County Council and the Oradea City Hall, organizes the 4th edition of the Oradea International Theater Festival between September 25 and October 2, 2016.
The International Theater Festival is a complex theatrical cultural event, which includes several sections. This year under the auspices of the great festival, the XXIIth edition of the Short Theater Festival, the Dramatic Creation Contest, a section specially dedicated to the Oradean public - Big guest performances and independent theater performances will take place.
The selection of the Short Theater Festival (the only one dedicated to the play in one act in the country) was made this year by the theater critic Doru Mareş. The 16 performances that will compete in the festival will certainly succeed in delighting and surprising through the diversity of genres and themes. Thus, we invite theater lovers to enjoy the comedies that have fascinated the public lately, to feel the emotion of the dramas that provoked them, to analyze lucidly or to let themselves be lost in a dreamlike world. The jury, made up of theater critics Mircea Morariu - the president of the jury, Ion Parhon and the director Alexa Visarion, will award prizes for the best show, the best direction, the best scenography, the best actor, the best actress and a special prize of the jury.
The jury of the Dramatic Creation Competition, made up of Elisabeta Pop, Ioan Moldovan and Victoria Balint, did not have an easy job this year, as 20 dramaturgy texts were entered in the competition, four of which were selected for the final.
At the Big Shows section, as we used to do to Oradean audiences every year, we invited the best productions that have been staged on the stage of the Romanian theater over time. Shows under the stage direction of great Romanian directors, such as Victor Ioan Frunză and Alexandru Dabija, will transform the Great Hall of the theater into a real celebration.
The tradition of outdoor shows continues this edition. Piaţa Unirii will dress up as a histrion and welcome the public with a variety of theatrical performances, starting with the musical comedies of the Queen Maria Theatre: Leonce and Lena and Lovers from Ancona, which are offered to the public free of charge.
The independent theaters will honor the Oradea scene with the most extraordinary productions, which you will be able to admire in Urban Pub and at Sala Studio Act (Koser), where you can also purchase tickets.
Because we promised a rich edition, in addition to the impressive selection of performances, we invite you to several related events that will complete the festival, starting with the DIRECTOR'S PORTRAIT of stage manager Victor Ioan Frunză. The mastery of this man of the theater cannot be celebrated other than through a show and applause, so we invite you to the three great productions created by him at different theaters in the country, starting with DOMNUL JURDAN, premiere of the Regina Maria Theater with which he will open , by the way, the festival.
Another important theater man who will be celebrated this year at FITO is the theater critic Ion Parhon, who is celebrating 50 years of activity and the beautiful age of 72.
An invitation addressed to all theater and book lovers, especially the youngest among them, is launched by the director Alexa Visarion, who will hold a conference about the status and importance of the actor, during which the book "Alexa Visarion or the destiny of the vocation" will be launched in Oradea ".
The 29 shows that will transform the autumn in Oradea into a theatrical season will be played in 8 different spaces, of which 7 shows at the Great Hall of the Queen Maria Theater, 6 at the House of Culture of the Trade Unions, 5 at Sala Arcadia, 4 at Scena Furniture, one in the Urban Pub, 2 at Sala Studio Szigligeti, 2 at Sala Studio Act and one at the Center for the Promotion of Tourism.
