Andre is a persecuted man. Of all. Always. The nurse who is supposed to take care of him steals his watch. His daughter Anne, a woman who worries too much, tries to take his apartment. His beautiful apartment where he has lived for more than 30 years. The apartment where, yes, he is able to live on his own. Her husband - Pierre (or maybe his lover) with whom she will move to London (or stay in Paris) threatens him with violence. Elise's daughter, the one he actually loves... where is she? She never comes to visit him.
What and how much of all this is reality and how much is the product of a demented mind? Painful questions to which the viewer finds answers in "Father" by Florian Zeller - a tragic-comic mystery, a sober and realistic family story, an emotional and touching look at the world through the eyes of a man suffering from dementia, a dramatic illustration of physical losses that occur together with mental ones.
