DRAMATIC CREATION COMPETITION DEDICATED TO THE SHORT PIECE | 2017 edition
"Dramatic Creation Contest for Short Play" aims to encourage original Romanian dramaturgy, especially short theater, as part of the prestigious Oradea Short Theater Festival, which since 2013 has been part of the Oradea International Theater Festival.
The organizers do not suggest a specific theme, leaving freedom of choice to the creators, the criteria for judging the pieces being aesthetic. The only imposed element is the formal one, required by the rigors of the short theater. In the opinion of the organizers, the short piece has a maximum of 25 pages (approximately 50,000 characters without spaces), and its editing must not exceed 90 minutes, without a break.
This year, 13 texts were entered in the competition, which were read and analyzed by the jury made up of theater critics Elizabeth Pop, Claudio Groza and editor-in-chief of Familia magazine Ioan Moldovan. Following the evaluation of the texts, starting from premises related to the dramatic technique and the artistic value, three of them were nominated, namely:
- SUB – SOUL, by Crista Bilciu
- SUPER OK, by Mircea Moroianu
- UNDER CONSTRUCTION, by Marco Tesei
The piece declared the winner, in full agreement of the jury members, was "Sub-soul", written by mrs Crista Bilciu.
"sub-soul" proposes, in the compressed manner proposed by the Contest Regulations (25 pages), several topics of interest, such as: loneliness, the obsessive search for identity, life, existence in borderline situations, etc. And as an original note, the need not to abandon the book - an eternal source of wisdom, but also of getting out of the impasse, a sure help in the fight against FEAR and the ugly.
The prize was awarded during the opening ceremony of the Oradea International Theater Festival, and the winning text will be published in "Familia" Magazine and sent electronically to all theaters in the country, with special recommendations from the Regina Maria Theater.
Congratulations to all!
