THE BELGRADE TRILOGY
Spectators are invited to a play that, in a comic or dramatic tone, presents the challenges and difficulties that young people face in trying to integrate in their adopted countries. THE BELGRADE TRILOGY presents three stories of young people from Belgrade who choose to leave their native country where they see no solution for their future. All the characters in the Belgrade Trilogy show emigrate to something, somewhere, in different contexts. For them, leaving comes with failure.
The three episodes of the Belgrade Trilogy, a play written in 1997 by Biljana Sbrljanovic, do not take place in Belgrade. In Prague, in Sidney, in Los Angeles, the exiles of the former "Yugoslav nation" try to celebrate Christmas, the New Year, but however unnatural it may seem, they feel that the celebration is there, in Belgrade where they fled and where it is bad, not where they ended up and it could be good.
