For me, "The Bear" is not only "a farce", as Chekhov himself called it.

In fact, this name must also be understood in the sense in which Chekhov wrote "comedy" under the title of one of his great plays, "The Seagull".

"Ursul", in my view, is a play about extreme situations, people in crisis on the fragile border between ridiculous and tragic, excessively sensitive and unconsciously harsh. A drag-comedy.

All the action happens in real time, and it's fascinating to see how an unleashed humanity goes through all possible states in just one hour of life. A concentrated and wonderfully nuanced life.

A human comedy that leaves you with a bittersweet taste.
